HOTEL HACIENDA CABO SAN LUCAS

Location: Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Area: 13,000 m²
Client: Hoteles Camino Real
Year: 1972

The first step was to remodel the original hotel with 33 rooms. The experience gained by modifying the architectural details, the decoration of the rooms and public areas, was used as a basis for developing new hotel units. The criteria used in the design was not to touch the landscape. The solution for the project was to separate cities, hidden in the hollows of the sand. The entrance to each unit is via a central courtyard (small oasis of tropical plants), with angular walls.

The architecture is part of the landscape. The roofs were designed to be horizontal, taking advantage of the precarious waterfall, to give each unit a full ocean view. At the same time the cost of construction was reduced.
